How do I set page title, description, and keywords?

Find website SEO settings, troubleshoot Google indexing and understand Search Console access.

Open Site Settings in the builder and find Search optimization (SEO). These settings apply to your website:

  • Page title: include your business name and main service. Aim for about 60 characters or fewer. Search engines may show a different title.
  • Meta description: summarise what you offer and where you operate. Aim for about 160 characters or fewer. Google may choose a snippet from the page instead.
  • SEO keywords: optional terms describing your business. Google does not use the meta keywords tag for ranking, so prioritise useful visible content instead.
  • Share image: choose the image used in social sharing metadata. Social platforms may keep an older preview for a while.

The Page settings menu on a page tab changes its name and web address. It does not currently offer separate title, description, keyword or share-image fields. Additional pages receive generated titles and descriptions based on the page name and business name.

Why has my Google result not changed?

Save your changes and publish your website, then check the live page rather than the builder preview. Google needs to crawl the page again before changes can appear, and neither OneLuton nor a new title can guarantee when that happens or where you rank.

Why is my website not showing in search?

Check that your site is published and that Search indexing is switched on in Site Settings. It is on by default. Eligible published sites and their pages are included in OneLuton's microsite sitemap automatically, including future sites. Sitemap inclusion helps discovery but does not guarantee indexing.

How long does indexing take, and can I check it?

Discovery and indexing can take days or weeks, and some pages may never be indexed. Searching for your exact website address is a useful first check, but an absent result does not explain the cause.

If you have verified access to the relevant property in Google Search Console, use URL Inspection with the full published address. Read the indexing status, use Test live URL to check the current page and, if eligible, choose Request indexing. A request is not a guarantee of indexing.

Your OneLuton sign-in does not grant access to OneLuton's domain property in Search Console. If you cannot verify access or your published, indexable site remains missing, with its address. OneLuton manages the shared microsite sitemap at https://luton.one/sitemap-microsites.xml; you do not need to resubmit it whenever you edit your site.

Switching Search indexing off asks search engines not to index the site and removes it from the microsite sitemap. Removal from existing search results can take time. This setting is not password protection: anyone with the address can still visit a published website.
